Bogalusa City School Board passes new student code of conduct

BOGALUSA, La. – The Bogalusa City School Board tonight voted in favor of making changes to the city’s student code of conduct.

Before this vote, the student code of conduct listed the consequences of fighting for all students as the following:

  • First offense – In-school suspension
  • Second offense – Discipline hearing
  • Group fight – Expulsion hearing

The new immediate changes that were passed are as follows:

  • 6th grade through 8th grade
    • First offense – Suspension or Alternative school (up to 25 days)
    • Second fight – Alternative school (90 days)
    • Third fight – Expulsion hearing
  • 9th grade through 12th grade
    • First offense – Alternative school (25 days)
    • Second fight – Alternative school (90 days)
    • Third fight – Expulsion hearing

It was mentioned in the proposed changes that any decision to place a student into alternative school will be reviewed by a designee of the Superintendent for approval.
