Bowling Green lifer Pat King passes away, colleagues send condolences

In 2019, when King returned to Bowling Green as the athletic director, Principal Beverly Young released a statement on King’s return to the school.
“Coach Pat does not come to this role without experience. For three years he served as the AD and basketball coach at Oak Forest. This school year, Coach Pat returned home,” Young said.
Through his years of working with students at Bowling Green, King’s educational belief was that all students could succeed when provided with a caring and dedicated support system of teachers, parents/guardians, administration, school support staff and community members.
Those who had heard the news of King’s passing took to social media to express their condolences and provide memories of King.
In a Facebook post on Sept. 22, Coach Eddie Miller stated, “He helped get me to BGS. We had awesome talks. He gave me great spiritual guidance in my move to Washington. We would text at least once a month. I have never met a braver man, a man that fought this horrible disease with such grace, a man that was so proud of his school, and a man who loved his family so much.”
Throughout his career, King had nothing but praise for Bowling Green.
“Pat was an excellent coach, but a way better man,” Miller said in his post.
