Louisiana State Police Investigating Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Washington Parish

The Louisiana State Police (LSP) is investigating a tragic motorcycle crash in Washington Parish on Sunday, Sept. 3, claiming the life of a Mississippi resident.

According to LSP officials, the incident unfolded at approximately 1:15 p.m. when troopers were dispatched to respond to a fatal motorcycle accident along Louisiana Highway 450 near Sunny Hill Road.

Preliminary findings from the ongoing investigation revealed that the victim, identified as 41-year-old Anthony Simmons, was operating his motorcycle while traveling southbound on LA Hwy 450. Tragically, Simmons lost control of his bike, veering off the road and colliding with a cross-drain and a tree.

Despite wearing the appropriate safety helmet at the time of the crash, Simmons sustained severe injuries that proved to be fatal. Tragically, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Louisiana State Police have taken charge of the investigation and are diligently working to piece together the events leading up to the accident. As part of the standard investigative process, a routine toxicology sample was collected to determine if any substances may have played a role in the crash.
