On Saturday, September 2, 2023, the Bogalusa Police Department responded to reports of gunfire at Juanita’s Bar & Grill, situated at 132 Richmond Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim with two gunshot wounds to his lower extremities. The injured individual was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.

Law enforcement swiftly identified the suspect as 21-year-old Jarmine Alexander, hailing from Baker, Louisiana. With assistance from the Baker Police Department, Alexander was apprehended at his residence, and a 9mm handgun was recovered as evidence.

At present, Jarmine Alexander is in custody at the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, awaiting transportation to the Bogalusa Police Department. Charges related to the shooting are pending as the investigation unfolds.
