On Monday, August 28, 2023, Bogalusa Police Department Detectives took 18-year-old Chaston Dyson into custody, identifying him as a key suspect in the case.

Dyson has been booked on multiple charges, including Second Degree Murder, Attempted Second Degree Murder (twice), Illegal Use of Dangerous Weapons, and Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property.
