On Aug. 8, shortly after 1:15 p.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L began investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash on LA Hwy 21 at Paige Road in Washington Parish. The crash claimed the life of 29-year-old Beau Bowman of Bogalusa.
The initial investigation revealed that a 2003 Toyota Camry was eastbound on Paige Road approaching the intersection with LA Hwy 21. At the same time, a 2024 Kawasaki motorcycle was southbound on LA Hwy 21. For reasons still under investigation, the driver of the Toyota failed to yield and traveled onto LA Hwy 21 directly into the path of the Kawasaki. The Kawasaki impacted the driver’s side of the Toyota.
Despite wearing a DOT-approved helmet, Bowman sustained severe injuries as a result of the crash. He was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the Toyota was properly restrained and was not injured. Routine toxicology samples were obtained from both drivers for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
Troopers wish to remind motorists to always make good decisions while in a motor vehicle. Never drive impaired, fatigued or distracted, follow all traffic laws and always ensure every occupant is properly restrained. While not all crashes are survivable, taking simple precautions such as these can often mean the difference between life and death.
