Stephen Wayne Pigott, II, 38 of Tylertown, Mississippi passed away peacefully on Friday, July 7, 2023 at his home. He was born Thursday, December 13, 1984 in McComb, Mississippi. Stephen is the son of Stephen W. Pigott, Sr., and Cindy Anderson Pigott.

Stephen graduated from Parklane Academy in 2003, where he made lifelong friendships that still exist to this day. He then attended Ole Miss, while simultaneously mastering culinary skills at award-winning restaurants, including the Oxford location of Pearl Street Pasta. Stephen also excelled at baking and was a talented pastry chef. Stephen spent a couple of years as executive chef at Pearl Street Pasta before moving to New Orleans to continue his career in the restaurant industry under world-renowned chef and Tylertown native Slade Rushing at MiLa, and at the famous Cochon of New Orleans. He later received his bachelor’s degree from William Carey University, and became licensed in nursing home administration.

Stephen was a man of many talents and there was nothing he could not do. In addition to being a professional chef, he was owner of Oak Hill Cattle Farm, manager of Resthaven Living Center, and poured his heart and soul into his newest business venture: Barrelhead Wine and Spirits of Tylertown. Stephen was passionate about his community and where he came from, and in 2021, founded The South Mississippi Boucherie Festival, benefiting the Walthall County Food Pantry. As an Eagle Scout himself, Stephen was an integral part of reinstituting scout troops in the Tylertown area. He was also serving as the current Vice-President of the Walthall County Chamber of Commerce, and was the current Vice-President of the Tylertown Rotary Club.

Stephen had a contagious joy for life and lived it to the fullest. He cast a wide net and never met a stranger. He was gentle and kind, always willing to help others, but never wanting the credit for all the good he did. He was captain of the chaos. He was the voice of reason. He had the best sense of humor. He loved duck hunting, golf, and Ole Miss athletics – especially Saturdays in the Grove with friends, old and new. He knew the best foods to try and things to drink. But above all of these things, his true passion was being a devoted husband to the absolute love of his life for over fifteen years, Amanda. Stephen lived every day for her and their beautiful children, always taking time to be the most hands-on dad he could be, from coaching little league, to participating at school functions, to planning vacations, to performing dance routines on-stage with his daughter, to teaching his son all the tips and tricks on the Nintendo, and anything and everything in between. Those memories will be cherished forever.

He is preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Leroy W. and Dot Hemphill Pigott; and maternal grandparents, John Edward and Geraldine Coats Anderson.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Amanda Sheridan Pigott; daughter, Brooklyn Joy Pigott, and son, Sutton Anderson Pigott; father, Stephen W. Pigott, Sr. and mother, Cindy Anderson Pigott; sisters Blaize Pigott Holmes (Jeremy) and Stephanie Pigott Miller; nephew, Grant Holmes; nieces Hallie Holmes, Presley Miller, Madelyn Sheridan, and Rylee Sheridan; mother-in-law, Pamela Chance; brother-in-law, Deric Sheridan (Robin); sister-in-law Katie Sexton (Rhett); other aunts, uncles, cousins; and countless friends that he loved like family.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM, with the funeral service to begin at 4:00 PM, all at Tylertown Baptist Church, located at 409 Tyler Avenue, Tylertown, Mississippi 39667. Brother Winston Fortenberry will officiate. Hartman Hughes Funeral Home will oversee arrangements.

Pallbearers are Aaron Price, Justin Cameron, Brandon Macloud, Landon Ratliff, Ryan Johnston, Jake Alford, Clinton Blades, Stephen Porter, and Michael Ott. Honorary pallbearers include Jeremy Holmes, Grant Holmes, Deric Sheridan, Rhett Sexton, Dr. Christopher Charles, Fredrick Redmond, Larry Montgomery, Chester Carl Dillon, and Paul Wilson.
