The Bogalusa Police Department is investigating after a person accused of exposing himself at a splash pad died by suicide following a stand-off Sunday.

According to the police, officers responded to Cassidy Park after it was reported a man exposed himself near the splash pad at 7:56 p.m.

Upon officers arriving, the suspect fled the area to a residence on St. John Street, where he then barricaded himself inside for several hours.

Officers attempted to negotiate with the suspect, but the suspect ultimately refused to cooperate and subsequently took his own life, with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police say they are still actively investigating the incident.
