The City of Bogalusa has secured a significant amount of $16,725,000 in funding during the 2023 legislative session. This funding will be allocated to critical projects to improve infrastructure and community facilities.

The primary funding allocations include $11 million to plan and construct a versatile community center that will also serve as an emergency shelter. An additional $4.95 million will be used to evaluate and repair the emergency sewer system. City Hall renovations will receive $210,000 to modernize the infrastructure. Furthermore, $565,000 has been allocated to plan, replace, and repair the Davenport Avenue Bridge and Servitude Street.

Mayor Tyrin Truong expressed his gratitude for the funding, stating, “This is a huge win for our city. It will replace decaying infrastructure, enhance community safety, and provide positive outlets for our children through a new recreation center doubling as an emergency shelter. I thank Sen. Mizell and Rep. White for being phenomenal partners in moving Bogalusa forward.”
