Franklinton is about to have a children’s playground.
They are hoping to break ground tentatively by September.
“We’re trying to build a playground for the town of Franklinton,” Franklinton Mayor Greg Route said. “Everybody will come once we have it completed.”
Some of the features at the playground will be a splashpad, a walking and bicycle trail, a fit lot, which will have exercise equipment, and the playground will have a dog park.
“We would like to provide an environment that will encourage health benefits for people of all ages in our community,” Route said.
The playground will have inclusive playground equipment, which will have equipment for children with disabilities, so they’ll have the ability to interact with other children in a safe environment.
There will be five 20×20 pavilions and one 20×40 pavilion that can be used for various events.
The playground will be located on Chess Jones Road and they have 21 acres of land.
