The Knights of Columbus Council 1819 recently placed, had blessed, and dedicate by Father Angel Diaz, Pastor of Annunciation Catholic Church.  The statue is of Our Lady of Guadalupe representing the Marian Appearance of the Blessed Mother to Juan Diego and his uncle, Juan Bernardin occurred in December 1531.  A venerated image on a cloak (tilmahtli) associated with the apparition is enshrined within the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico CityPope Leo XIII granted the image a decree of canonical coronation on February 8, 1887, and it was pontifically crowned on October 12, 1895. The basilica is the most-visited Catholic shrine in the world, and the world’s third most-visited sacred site.[1

This statue was donated by the Knights Council 1819   and grounds were prepared by members of the Council, Teddy Drummond and Ricky Rogers. Thanks also go out to Bogalusa Monuments for using their equipment to place the base and statue on the prepared surface in Front of the church.  Also special thanks to Vaughn Gibson and Bob Ricca for researching and obtaining the statue and base from Fines Gallery in Bonita Springs Florida.

The Knights of Columbus are looking at the possibility of adding another statue on the other side of the entrance.
