Byrd Avenue Primary School rewarded the students for positive behavior with a carnival on Tuesday.
Ann Culpepper is in charge of the carnival and it is done annually at the end of the school year as part of the Positive Behavior Intervention and Support.
“We do that carnival at the end of the year, so that the kids realize that having good behavior will pay off,” Byrd Avenue Primary School Principal Tonyah Jefferson said.
Ann Culpepper is in charge of the carnival.
Fundraising during the school year and donations pay for it.
The carnival featured a petting zoo, ferris wheel, train, games and food.
Besides the carnival, Jefferson said the school rewards students throughout the year. Some of the rewards are Student of the Month, Lunch with the principal and free dress.
Jefferson said that for Student of the Month, some of the criteria is good behavior, showing citizenship in the classroom and being able to work with others.
When a student is Student of the Month, they get a yard sign and there is a display board at the school with the Students of the Month.
