Mrs. Lois Applewhite Tynes was born on Oct. 3, 1928 and passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2023, at Lakeview Hospital in Mandeville, LA at the age of 94. She was born in Bogalusa and worked at the Grocery Bag Factory for 30 years. Mrs. Tynes was married to her husband, Richard Tynes, for 49 years and 11 months before his sudden death in December 1996.  She was a faithful member of Forest Haven Missionary Baptist Church until her failing health. 

Mrs. Tynes is survived by her one brother, Louis Applewhite; three sisters in law, Helen Applewhite, Carolyn Applewhite, and Syrenia Applewhite; and a special nephew and niece, Billy and Sue Hines with whom she resided and was her primary care givers (along with the help of their children and grandchildren).  She was loved dearly and will be missed by her church family at Forest Haven Missionary Baptist Church and all her nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Tynes was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Tynes; her parents, Vencie and Hazel Applewhite; sisters, Ophelia Averette, Willie Mae Jenkins, Meita Pigott, and Neita Varnado; and her brothers, Arthur Ray, Austin, Albert, and Wayne Applewhite.

 Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until time for the services at 1 p.m.  Bro. Richard Magee, Bro. Yancey Magee, Bro. Billy Hines, and Bro. Jerry Duncan will officiate the service.  Interment to follow at Forest Haven Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include Aaron Hines, Mike Applewhite, Brandon Applewhite, Billy Penton, and Jerry Duncan.

Honorary pallbearers will include Alan Applewhite, Charles Williams, Mike WIlliams, and Huey Thomas.
