Jane Melton Morgan entered into her heavenly home to be with the Lord on May 12, 2023 where she was greeted by her loving husband, the late Dr. Andrew Thomas “Tommy” Morgan. Jane was a native of Funston, Ga., a longtime resident of Bogalusa, Louisiana and a current resident of Sorrento, Louisiana. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. Jane was born on Dec. 30, 1936 to the late Mary and Charlton Melton. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her four children; Jenny Morgan Rogers and husband Dr. Johnny Rogers, Andrew Charles “Andy” Morgan and wife Dawn Kimble Morgan, Janet Morgan and Judy Morgan Prince and boyfriend Conrad Kennedy, 9 grandchildren; Chris Rogers (Dawn), Scott Rogers (Brandi), Ricky Rogers (Rebecca), Tiffany Fontenot, Ashley Mitchell, Chelsea Bilbo (Joel), Sheila Jones, Sherri Morgan and Morgan Prince and 19 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings; Mary Ellen Gaines, Sandra Croy and Frieda Jones, her sister-in-law Barbara Melton, a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her siblings; Anita Rosich, Wayne Melton, Larry Melton. She will be greatly missed by all of those who knew and loved her.
Jane had two loves in her life, her family and her faith. She was the devoted wife of a pastor. Anything she could do to assist her husband in his role was exactly what she did. She was the church pianist for many years. Jane didn’t let anybody slip by her without giving them a handshake or a hello as they entered the church every Sunday. She loved getting to know her fellow church members. As she saw it, they were her extended family. Jane loved to spend time with her family and friends. Family was always at the center of her heart. Her kind words and soft smiles will be greatly missed.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at Ascension Baptist Church in Gonzales beginning at 9 a.m. with a Celebration of Jane’s Life to start at 10 a.m. The burial will take place in Bogalusa at Ponemah Cemetery at 3 p.m. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.oursofh.com for the Morgan family.
