Bickham named Franklinton’s April Student of the Month

Alyssa Dawn Bickham is the 18-year-old daughter of James Bickham, and Misty and Matt Polk. She is the sister of James Bickham (‘21 FHS graduate), Weston Polk, and Anna Kate Polk. Her grandparents are Ricky and Debra Byrd and Hayes and Ruby Bickham. Alyssa attends Thomas First Baptist Church, where she is an active member of the youth and enjoys attending church camp each summer.
During her four years at Franklinton High School, Alyssa has been an active member of several service clubs and extracurricular activities. She has served as a Student Council Representative and currently serves as Secretary. Alyssa has also been a four-year member of the Beta Club and currently serves as Treasurer. She has competed in the Beta Group Talent Competition at the state and national level. In June, she will travel to Kentucky to perform with her peers in group talent at the National Beta Convention. Alyssa has also been a three-year member of the National Honor Society. Being a member of these clubs has provided Alyssa with opportunities to serve her community. She has made cards for residents of local nursing homes, participated in food drives, Toys for Tots, collected items for the pet shelter, and served as a student helper at the Special Olympics. Alyssa has been a four-year member of the Lady Demons Basketball team and a four-year member of the Demonettes dance team, serving as captain during her senior year.
Throughout high school, Alyssa has acquired numerous awards. She has received awards in various subject areas, academic achievement and banner roll, leadership awards, and has also been selected as a Taylor Scholar. In previous years, Alyssa was elected by her peers as a class favorite and as a senior, she was chosen to be a candidate for Student of the Year. Alyssa will graduate with a 4.14 GPA and 12 dual enrollment hours in English, Advanced Math, and Western Civilization from Louisiana Tech University and Southeastern Louisiana University. Upon graduation, Alyssa plans to attend Nicholls State University in Thibodaux and pursue a degree in Biology with a concentration in Pre-Med.
