On April 5, Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force detectives arrested Antonio
Ortiz, 36, a resident of Mt. Olive Road in Mt. Hermon. After observing Ortiz driving on the
wrong side of the road, detectives conducted a traffic stop.
Once detectives learned the driver’s name, they discovered he had outstanding warrants for
contempt of court. In addition, detectives discovered that Ortiz was in possession of a quantity
of illegal drugs and a semi-automatic pistol. He was arrested and transported to the Washington
Parish Jail where he was booked on charges of possession of illegal drugs, possession of drug
paraphernalia, possession of illegal drugs with a weapon present, two counts of contempt of
court and a traffic offense.
Ortiz has been arrested at least two times previously in Washington Parish in 2010 and 2021.
During those arrests he was charged with illegal drug offenses and contempt of court.
“Once again, our officers have removed illegal drugs from our community,” stated Sheriff Randy
Seal. “As I’ve said many times before, illegal drugs have no place in our parish and I am always
pleased when our officers discover them and make an arrest. If you are dealing illegal drugs, be
aware that we will eventually catch you and escort you to the Washington Parish Jail.”
