Franklinton defeats Salmen, Pope John Paul II

Franklinton defeated Salmen and Pope John Paul II in games that were held on Friday and Saturday.

Friday’s game was a 17-3 road victory over Salmen in five innings in a District 8-4A game.

Franklinton scored seven in the first inning and nine in the third to take a 16-0 lead through three, as Rickken Burkhalter drove in five runs.

Burkhalter went 3-for-3 with the five RBIs and he scored two runs.

Will Turner doubled twice and scored two runs.

Micah Wascom singled, tripled, posted three runs batted in and a run scored.

Elisha Hart doubled with two RBIs and a run scored.

Brady Smith singled, drove in a run and scored a run.

Banyan Penton doubled and scored a run.

DIllon Pace singled and scored three runs.

Cade Phillips singled, drove in a run and scored two runs.

De’Ron Sincero scored two runs, while Tyler Hammond posted an RBI and Tryson Fowler and Jorrian Burkhalter both scored a run.

Penton pitched three shutout innings, allowing one hit with four strikeouts and a walk.

The game against Pope John Paul II was 7-2 in a non-district contest at home.

Rickken Burkhalter tripled, drove in two runs and scored a run.

Penton singled twice and drove in a run.

Pace singled, drove in a run and scored two runs.

Turner, Hart and Sincero all singled.

Fowler scored a run.

Turner went the distance, allowing two runs on four hits with four strikeouts and two walks.

Franklinton’s next game will be on April 3 against Loranger at home.
