On March 13, a Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office narcotics investigator encountered Gregory Waylon Dunaway, 41, on Jefferson Street in Bogalusa. Knowing that Dunaway had an open felony warrant, the detective detained him and discovered that he was in possession of a quantity of heroin as well as drug paraphernalia. Dunaway was arrested and transported to the Washington Parish Jail where he was booked on charges of possession of heroin, possession of illegal drugs with intent to distribute, distribution of illegal drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Dunaway has at least five previous arrests in Washington Parish since 2006. Previous charges include several counts of possession of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia, theft, resisting an officer, contempt of court, failure to appear in court and probation and parole violations.
“Basically, it was Mr. Dunaway’s choice to go to jail,” stated Sheriff Randy Seal. “His choices to use illegal drugs and commit other criminal violations are the only reasons he was ever arrested. We all must face the consequences of poor choices and, in this case, the consequence was a trip to jail.”
