Burnett selected Varnado’s February Student of the Month

Kimani Burnett is an 18-year-old senior that attends Varnado High School and has attended VHS since the sixth grade. She is the middle child of Kimberly Hines and the oldest of her father Winford McFarland. Throughout her years at Varnado, Ms. Burnett has maintained a 3.6 GPA in her courses while participating in various extracurricular groups and clubs at Varnado High School.
Kimani has been on the Varnado High School Blue Angels dance team for four years. She has received numerous academic and athletic awards and certificates such as certification in BLS (Basic Life Support) and EMR License. Along with participation in National Technical Honor Society, National BETA, Talent Search, National Honor Society, and Student Council, she is also a member of the VHS Lady Cat Basketball, Volleyball and Softball teams. She goes beyond her high school schedule and does service hours with community service organizations. She was recently recognized as a Duchess for the Krewe of Unity Mardi Gras Organization.
By the end of her High School Senior year; Kimani will have completed 12 credit hours of Dual Enrollment courses through Southeastern Louisiana University of Hammond.
Outside of her school life Kimani works as a part time employee and enjoys going to the movies and spending time with her friends and family. After high school, Kimani hopes to attend University of Louisiana at Lafayette and further her education to become a Licensed Practical Nurse.
