Franklinton Mayor Greg Route has announced that the city has received a grant from Delta Regional Authority.
According to the press release, 18 cities in Louisiana received a total of $9.3 million in infrastructure projects.
The release says that the investment for Franklinton is worth a total of $665,653 with the DRA investing $584,653 and Franklinton putting up $81,000.
The money will be used for medical district water system improvements, the release says.
According to the release, the town of Franklinton will use the DRA funds to install new water mains to provide resilient and redundant water infrastructure for existing facilities and future medical district development and expansion. The investment is projected to affect 50 families, the release stated.
The medical district includes Riverside Medical Center, a nursing home, doctors offices, a pharmacy, the Washington Parish Activity Center for special needs and Riverside’s Rehabilitation Center.
Route said he had been pursuing this grant for two years.
