Fredrick “Fred” M Kirby of Franklinton, La., age 69, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2022 at home with his wife by his side. He proudly served his country as an Army Veteran and his local community as a law enforcement and corrections officer. He was a proud 2004 graduate of the FBI National Academy. Fred also graduated from the Louisiana Law Enforcement Command College. His two dreams in life were to be in the military and law enforcement. He always demonstrated the utmost professionalism in both capacities.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J.L. and Louise Kirby; one sister, Gayle Kirby; one brother, James Kirby and his loving wife of 24 years, Faye Kirby.
Left to cherish Fred’s memories is his loving wife of 18 years, Kimberly Kirby; two sons, Kenny Kirby and Blake Kirby (Decci); one daughter, Tina Tassara; one step-son, Randy Lessard; one step-daughter, Sarah Lessard; a special daughter-in-law, Kristen Kirby; seven grandchildren, Trey Tassara, Austen Kirby, Cameron Kirby, Aiden Kirby, Ashton Kirby, Addison Kirby and Colston Kirby; two sisters, Mary Suarez and Miriam Kirby (Jack Valentine); numerous other family members and friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend Fred’s memorial service on Friday, Dec. 16, 2022 at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home, 216 Alabama Ave., Bogalusa, LA for 3 p.m. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Burial to follow in Ponemah Veterans Cemetery.
