While attending the 2022 Knight Insight Summit in Biloxi, Miss., Vonda Waskom, Executive Director of the Bogalusa Housing Authority, was recognized for her 2021 NAHRO Award of Merit for Cypress Pointe RAD, LP and a Housing Excellence Award. Both are a testament to Waskom’s impact on the Bogalusa community.

Cypress Pointe RAD, LP represents the third and final phase of the Bogalusa Housing Authority portfolio conversion, which invested $48,084,651 into the community and positively impacted 344 households. The Bogalusa Housing Authority partnered with Knight Development to preserve the aging properties and add additional housing through new construction.

Creative problem solving enabled the partners to complete construction and garner enough funding to provide high-quality units for a low cost in a community with a low inventory. The development included major renovation of the building systems, windows, roof replacement, installed HVAC, new flooring, exterior and interior painting, new doors, lighting, new appliances, landscaping, and signage for marketability, updated 504 compliance, and fully renovated bathrooms, kitchens.

The Bogalusa Housing Authority has served this community since 1949. The BHA operates 324 PBV units, 100 Housing Choice Vouchers, 15 Emergency Housing Vouchers, and 20 tax credits. Visit www.bogalusahousing.org to learn more.
