Billie Lamar Wood, 71, of the Stateline Community, died Thursday morning, Aug. 11, 2022, at The Hospice House in Slidell. He was a longtime member of Briarwood Baptist Church, who loved going to church and being with his church family. Lamar enjoyed traveling and spending time with his friends and family.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Jan Sones Wood; daughter and son-in-law, Christi and George Galloway; stepson and daughter-in-law, Josh and Jessenia Sumrall; grandchildren and spouses, Jordan and Dynasty Wood, Ty and Noelani Galloway, and Laken Galloway; great-grandchildren, Julius and Juliet Wood, and Malachi Galloway, making his appearance in October; sister, Mary Wood; brother, A.B. Wood; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Nancy and Mark Corkern, and Don Miley; and also numerous nieces and nephews that were very special to him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill Wood and Phylor Thomas Wood; brother-in-law, Buddy Wood; and sister-in-law, Becky Miley.

Visitation will be at Briarwood Baptist Church (32461 Louisiana Highway 62 in Franklinton) on Saturday, Aug. 13, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. A funeral service will be held in the church at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, with the Rev. Eddie Henson officiating with a family eulogy provided by Mark Corkern. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be George Galloway, Jordan Wood, Ty Galloway, Josh Sumrall, Jason Sones, Mark Corkern, Bobby Miller, Kevin Jones and Colby Pierce. Honorary pallbearers will be A.B. Wood, Jerry Thomas, David Brooks, Rodney Wood, Dewayne Wood and the members of Briarwood Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Briarwood Church (at the address above) or to The Hospice House (P.O. Box 5806, Slidell, LA 70469).
