Sarah Leuna Kitchens Peterson, 83, a resident of Covington, went to be with the Lord on June 4, 2022. Sarah was born July 15, 1938, in Philadelphia, Miss.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eric Peterson of Sunny Hill, and eldest son, Darryl Duane Peterson of Bogalusa (Debbie Adams Peterson). She was also preceded in death by her parents, Woodie Eugene Kitchens and Lillie Mae Sullivan Kitchens of Rio; and her siblings, Thelma Matthews of Rio, Talmadge Kitchens of Dothan, Ala., Wayne Kitchens of Hammond, and Barbara Bennett of Bogalusa.
She is survived by her sons, Dr. Eric Yancey Peterson of Roswell, N.M. (Chrishawn Cobos Peterson), and Kitch Hunter Peterson of Wichita, Kan., and daughter, Krystal Kayrn Peterson of Franklinton. Sarah is also survived by her grandchildren, Daron and Flynt Peterson of Bogalusa, Bryce, Zachary, Azelin, Eziah, Noamiah, and Adaliela Peterson of New Mexico, Gunnar Peterson-Gross of Franklinton, London Peterson-Gross of Lafayette, and Landry Peterson of Wichita. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Sarah worked as a bookkeeper for her husband with Pearl River Towing Company, helpmate to her husband on cattle ranches in Oklahoma and Paraguay, South America, and worked a number of years for Bert Burr Photography. Yet her favorite job was being a mother and grandmother. She was always available for a hug, or to pass along her timeless wisdom.
