Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Shirley Ann Burr, age 87, entered the gates of Heaven on Wednesday, June 1, 2022.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Albert “Albo” Burr, Jr. and Bert Burr; granddaughters, Mandy (Matthew) Stewart, Kristen (Chris) Lott, Cadie (Jamie) Walker, and Hailey (Jon’Kez) Burr-Dillon; great grandchildren, Gage, Halle, Drake, Kinley, Kason, Bralynn, Kambri, and Ana Leia; brother, Charles Ray Rogers; daughter in law, Penny Moore; and special friends, Richard and Lesa Doll and Rev. Richard and Angela Ryals.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Albert Burr, Sr.; her parents, Harold and Minnie Rogers; and her brother Tommy Rogers.

Shirley, or Maw Maw as she was affectionately known, was a natural caretaker and nurturer, so it was no surprise that she was a Registered Nurse. She spent many years working as a nurse at the Bogalusa Health Unit. After retiring, she cherished every second she spent with her family. She was happiest when she was in a room full of “her babies”.

Shirley spent her entire life with one goal in mind- spreading the word about her love for Jesus Christ and making sure she could take as many people with her to heaven as she possibly could.

In lieu of flowers, we are certain that all our precious Maw Maw would ask is for you to spend more time with family, go to church this Sunday, and most importantly – make sure you know God as your savior, so that, you too can spend eternity with Him in heaven just like she is!

Visitation will be held Friday, June 3, 2022, at Cornerstone Church (1101 Sunset Drive/Hwy. 10W) in Bogalusa from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. with Rev. Richard Ryals officiating the services. Interment to follow at Hill View Memorial Gardens on Spring Valley Road in Bogalusa, LA.
