End of the Year art exhibit

Riverstone Gallery, located at 415 S. Columbia St. in Bogalusa, is hosting the Bogalusa High School Talented Art’s “End of the Year Student Gallery Exhibit” through Sunday, May 21.

Blood drive for Sydney Schuler

A Southeast Louisiana Home Health Replacement Blood Drive for Sydney Schuler will be held Thursday, May 19, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Bloodmobile, which will be parked at 433 Plaza St. in Bogalusa. A monetary donation will be made by The Blood Center for each person who donates. Masks are now optional. Eat a good meal before donating, and bring your ID. Wills for Heroes

SLLS is hosting a free “Wills for Heroes” event on Friday, May 20. It will be held at the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office Bogalusa substation, located at 302 Mississippi Ave. in Bogalusa. Training for volunteer lawyers begins at 8:30 p.m. and the event will begin at 9 a.m. There are seven appointments per hour starting at 9 a.m., and the last round of appointments will be at 2 p.m. Every participating first responder or veteran will have the opportunity to meet individually with a licensed attorney and have a Last Will and Testament, Healthcare Power of Attorney, and Declaration/Living Will drafted on his or her behalf without charge. Those eligible include police officers, firefighters, paramedics, probation/parole officers and veterans (including spouses). Memorial Day observance

A Memorial Day observance will be on the street beside the Varnado Store Museum on Sunday, May 29, at 2 p.m. The program will be presented by the American Legion Post 24. Everybody is invited.

Bogalusa Balloon Festival

The Bogalusa Parks, Recreation and Culture Commission will be presenting the “Bogalusa Balloon Festival” from Friday, May 20, through Sunday, May 22, at George R. Carr Memorial Airfield, located at 401 Walker St. in Bogalusa. There will also be a bonus carnival night on Thursday, May 19. There will be vendors, food, live music, a carnival, balloon glows and flights, and tethered balloon rides (conditions permitting). Friday will be a VIP only event with The Band Epic. Weekend VIP tickets include other amenities for $100. General admission tickets are $5 for one day, $7 for two days. Children 12 and under receive free admission. Pre-register to volunteer for a balloon crew; volunteers are needed. Sponsors are still being accepted. Parent and Family Engagement Survey

The Louisiana Department of Education has released the Parent and Family Engagement Survey. Washington Parish Schools values the input of its families. Complete the survey to help the district better serve its families and students. Each parent or guardian is encouraged to complete the survey before it closes on May 31. Memorial Day ceremony

“A Tribute to Our Veterans,” a Memorial Day ceremony hosted by the RPEC, will be held Monday, May 30, at 9 a.m. at the Our Veterans Memorial Park site located at 54042 Dollar Road. The speaker will be State Sen. Beth Mizell, and the American Legion will perform the Rifle Salute.

Open Road Cruisers

The Open Road Cruisers monthly “Cruise-In” will be held the second Thursday night of each month, from March through August, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. in the parking lot of Zesto’s Drive-In, located at 100 Richmond St. in Bogalusa. There is a $1,000 cash giveaway each month.
