BHS students participate in district ‘Literary Rally’

On Saturday, March 12, a total of 44 Bogalusa High School students participated in the District Literary Rally on the campus of Southeastern Louisiana University.
These students were: Chantasia Adams, Devin Adams, Dezree Adams, Aja Brown, Takyka Collins, Jaiden Cooley, Kayleigh Cooley, Ashton Crater, Ciearra Gibson, Nicholas Grande, Amour Harris, Judson Herndon, Gabrielle Hopkins, Kenny Ikerd, Ivan Jones, Mark Jones, Juliana Kelly, Skyler Keys, Jodie Knight, Passion Lewis, Maria Luna, Rosa Martinez, Jaleah Mingo, Terrance Mingo, Latvia Moses, Camron Nadeau, Tia Odom, Robert Olmstead, Brian Palmer, Sydney Perkins, Jakirstan Pigott, Jaysen Relayson, Lilliyana Seal, Shunice Sheridan, Conner Simmonds, Kayla Smoot, Amani Turner, Elizabeth Van Damme, Christopher Varnado, Taniya Washington, Estelle Welch and Jacob Whittaker.
Seven students qualified to attend the State Literary Rally at LSU on April 9:
- Tyra Gholar — Family and Consumer Science.
- Judson Herndon — Agriculture Science I.
- Camron Nadeau — Business Computer Applications.
- Jacob Whittaker — Introduction to Business Computer Applications.
- Jaleah Mingo — Chemistry.
- Rosa Martinez — English III.
- Elizabeth Van Damme — Food and Nutrition.
Three other students qualified at the district level. They were Aja Brown, IBCA; Kayla Smoot, BCA; and Amani Turner, Spelling.
Two of the students placed first in their subject. They were Camron Nadeau and Jacob Whittaker.
After the competition, students and chaperones enjoyed lunch and shopping at Hammond Square before departing for home.
