Gary A. Parker, a resident of Bush, went to his Heavenly home on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2022, at the age of 68. Gary was born and raised in Baton Rouge, where he graduated from Broadmoor High School. He then went to Southeastern Louisiana University, where he obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree before heading to LSU School of Dentistry where he obtained his degree of Doctor of Dental Science. Gary then came to Bogalusa, and opened a dental practice where he practiced for 43 years. He will be dearly missed by his office family.
Gary loved his dental practice and loved all his patients, especially the children. In his spare time, Gary was an avid sportsman where he mastered the art of duck calling and turkey calling. Gary’s favorite pastime was hunting and fishing.
Gary is survived by his two sons, Tyler Parker and Trevor (Abby) Parker; a brother, Michael (Sharon) Parker; his sister, Lynn Parker Ory; and his two grandchildren, Owen and Rhett Parker. He is also survived by his fiancé, Marian Burr.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Betty Parker; his first wife, Robin Ford Parker; his second wife, Teena Strand Parker; and a brother-in-law, Henry Ory.
Visitation was held Friday, Feb. 11, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. for family and friends. A private family memorial service was held at 7 p.m., with the Rev. Larry Mizell officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Special Olympics of Louisiana or Donated Dental Services of Louisiana.
