Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Knight Ewell, a resident of Bogalusa, passed away Sunday, Jan. 16, 2022, at the age of 86. Mrs. Mary was retired from Resthaven after 35 years as well as a private sitter for over 20 years.

Mrs. Mary is survived by her brother, Teaman “Toby” (Brenda) Knight; grandchildren, Otis (Christy) Ewell Jr., Nikki Bonura, Jeffery (Erica) Ewell, Thad “Bubba” Haik, Melissa Haik, Megan (Jason) Johnson, Macey (Man) Fornea and Phyllis Ewell; and great-grandchildren, Zachary (Kelsey) Ewell, Gracie (Joseph) Palmer, Victoria (Jacob) Bonura, Russell Bonura, Natalie Bonura, Chyenne Bonura, Madison Busby, Chloe Busby, Carson and Hudson Ewell, Hayden and Grayson Johnson, Oliver and Roman Haik, and C.J. Fornea.

Mrs. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Ewell; her children, Otis Ewell Sr., Roy Ewell, Evelyn Ewell and Sharon Walton; her sisters, Mildred Jenkins, Joyce Spillman and Sara Hunt; and also, her parents, Yvonne Pounds and Teaman Knight.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, Jan. 18, from 10 a.m. until time of services at 2 p.m. at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home. Interment followed at Hillview Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The Rev. Stanley Talley officiated the services.
