Terry Ann Bufkin Kemp, a native of New Orleans, and long-time resident of Bogalusa, passed away Friday, Jan. 7, 2022, at the age of 51. She was a long-time owner and operator of Smokey’s Discount Tobacco in Covington.
Terry is survived by her sons, Tyler Kemp of Purvis, Miss., and Trevor Penton of Bogalusa; her fiancée, Daniel Spillman of Bogalusa; her mother, Sandra (Ricky) Hall of Bogalusa; her father, John R. (Wilda) Bufkin of Bogalusa; four sisters, Wendy Bufkin Williams of Ocean Springs, Miss., Robin Bufkin (Doug) Simpson of Kentwood, Melissa (Jeremy) Pollard of Salem, Miss., and Amanda Bufkin of Bogalusa; and one brother John R. Bufkin III. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Terry was preceded in death by her son, Coleman Penton; maternal grandparents, Russell and Gleason Balfantz; paternal grandparents, John R. Bufkin Sr. and Marion Bufkin; and a special uncle, Johnny Balfantz.
A graveside service was held Friday, Jan. 14, at 2:30 p.m. at Ponemah Cemetery, with the Rev. Eddie Hartfield officiating.
