Bowling Green principal Phill Junkins announced late Wednesday that the school would cancel all classes until Tuesday, Jan. 18, in light of the prevalence of COVID-19 in the community.

In a letter to parents and Bowling Green stakeholders, Junkins wrote:

“Honoring our commitment to the health and safety of our students, faculty and families we serve, BG Administration has made the decision to suspend school and all school activities until Tuesday, Jan. 18. We feel this is the best option to reduce the transmission of illness and keep everyone safe, which is our top priority.

“BG Administration has hired decontamination services to disinfect our campus in an effort to prevent the spread of illness.

We know school closure may create challenges for you and your family. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this difficult time. School will reconvene on Tuesday, Jan. 18.

The Personality Ball and all basketball games will be rescheduled.”
