COVID-19 vaccination event
Mt. Zion Baptist Church and pastor Dr. Keith B. Cowart, Bethlehem Baptist Church and pastor Elder Chris Matthews, along with other pastors of the Bogalusa community, encourage everyone to do their part to stop the spread of COVID-19. There will be a vaccination event Saturday, Sept. 25, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Bethlehem Baptist Church Family Life Center, located at 837 E. Seventh St. in Bogalusa.

Museum meeting
The annual meeting of the Washington Area Museum Foundation/Varnado Store Museum will be held on Sunday, Sept. 26, in the museum’s annex at 2 p.m. All members of the foundation are encouraged to attend to participate in the planning of museum activities and to hear annual progress reports. Anyone who is interested in the preservation of our parish’s history is also invited to attend. Guests are welcome.

Bogalusa broadband information meeting
State Rep. Malinda White will host a Broadband Information Meeting to be held Friday, Oct. 1, at 3 p.m. in the Bogalusa City Hall courtroom. Attendees will hear from guest speaker Veneeth Iyengar, who is the executive director at the Louisiana Office of Broadband and Connectivity. He will discuss the GUMBO Grant Program and take questions from the audience concerning broadband.

Franklinton broadband information meeting
State Sen. Beth Mizell will host a Broadband Information Meeting to be held Friday, Oct. 1, at 5 p.m. in the First Baptist Church Family Life Center, located at 950 Self St. in Franklinton. Attendees will hear from guest speaker Veneeth Iyengar, who is the executive director at the Louisiana Office of Broadband and Connectivity. He will discuss the GUMBO Grant Program.

Bogalusa Open Market
The Bogalusa Parks Recreation and Culture Commission will be holding the Bogalusa Open Market on Saturday, Oct. 2. This event will be similar to the city-wide garage sale in Abita Springs. The market will take place from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Bogalusa Sports Complex on Avenue B. Opportunities include garage sale booths, vendor booths, food booths and interactive map advertising. Downtown Street Festival
The Downtown Street Festival presented by the Bogalusa Historic Cultural District will be Saturday, Oct. 16, from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. The event will feature live music, Louisiana cuisine, artisan vendors, an antique car show presented by Open Road Cruisers, a silent art auction at Riverstone Gallery, and art contests hosted by the YMCA.
