International Paper is donating $100,000 to support disaster relief efforts following Hurricane Ida, supporting the following organizations through critical disaster relief assistance along the gulf coast and areas impacted by the storm:

  • United Way of Southeast Louisiana.
  • Second Harvest of Greater New Orleans.
  • American Red Cross Ida Response.
  • Team Rubicon.
  • United Way Worldwide Ida Response Fund.
  • Feeding America Ida Response.

In addition to these disaster relief grants, the mill took other immediate measures to alleviate needs following the storm, including activating the Employee Relief Fund to assist team members whose homes were damaged, and offering gas and diesel assistance to mill and box plant employees.

“Hurricane Ida left our community with many challenges, including electrical outages and gas shortages,” said Kalisa Hyman, mill communications manager. “In addition to needing gas to get to work, many of our team members were running generators at home.”

The mill recognized this need — and how difficult buying gas had become with long lines and empty pumps — and was in the unique position of being able to offer gas assistance to its team members.

“International Paper is proud to be a force for good and address this critical need in our community,” Hyman said.

Each year, International Paper provides more than $10 million to support thousands of charitable organizations in the communities where its employees live and work.
