Richard Dykes, 50, passed away at his home on Sept. 1, 2021. Richard was born on Aug. 17, 1971, in Independence. He loved fishing and sitting under his favorite tree with his dog, Smokey. Richard also loved to grow vegetables in his garden and worked with Aspland Tree Company for many years. He studied electrical engineering at Rankin College in Pearl, Miss.
He is survived by three children Lander, Leland and Haylyn Dykes; his mother, Deborah Dykes; brother and sister-in-law, Patrick and Tammy Dykes; sister and brother-in-law, Jody and Wanda Guyllette; and four nieces, Megan, Callie, Summer and Harley Guyllette, all of Franklinton. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other family and friends and special loved ones in Mississippi.
He was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Dykes; a sister, Sheila Dykes; a niece, Kaitlyn Guyllette; his grandparents, Milton Penton and Dora McCain, and James and Athlea Dykes; five uncles, Jerry and David Penton, Leroy Forbes, and James and Kenneth Dykes; one aunt, Rosa Penton; and two cousins, Devon and Sherry Penton.
Funeral arrangements were at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home in Bogalusa. The service was from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 9, with a burial that followed at Noble Cemetery in Pine.
