The Washington Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness announced that a POD (point of distribution) site will be open Thursday, to provide ice, water and MREs (ready-made meals) to Washington Parish citizens.
This POD site is at Franklinton High School, located at 1 Demon Circle in Franklinton. Hours of operation are noon until 6 p.m.
Instructions are as follows:
- Remain inside your vehicle at all times. Once it is your turn to receive your supplies, have your trunk open to keep contact as limited as possible.
- There is only one way to enter, and this is from Louisiana Highway 10.
- Upon entering, proceed to turn right on Jaguar Drive and you will be directed from there.
- Once your commodities are received, cars will then exit to Greenlaw. No vehicles will be allowed to enter from Greenlaw.
The wait to receive commodities is forecasted to be long. With the heat advisory in effect from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Thursday, citizens are advised to come prepared with water on hand in the effort to prevent heat exhaustion.
