Willie Ruth Lewis was born July 12, 1952, to the late Gladys Mark (Richard James) and Quince Pittman in Tylertown, Miss. She departed this earthly life on Aug. 24, 2021 at her home in Bogalusa.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her children, Tabatha (Delester) Smith, Denson (Leslie) Pittman, Yevone (Stephan) Pigott and Ivy Lewis, all of Bogalusa; two step-children, Shaffer (Sandie) Curney Sr. of Anchorage, Alaska, and Shanfie Dillon of Houston, Texas; her grandchildren, Stanley (Darieth) Wilks of Dallas, Texas, Kayla Pittman (Lawrence) of Baton Rouge, Denson Pittman Jr. of Covington, and Tyrell Pittman, who she helped to raise, of Bogalusa; her step-grandchildren, Jazzmine, JuliAnna, Jozlynn, and Shaffer Jr. Curney, all of Anchorage, and Koranja Dillon and his siblings of Houston; great-granchild, Knima Williams of Baton Rouge; step-great-grandchildren, Lucca and Carter Curney of Anchorage; sister, Regina (Melvin) Baggett of Bogalusa; her brother, James (Theresa) Pittman of Bogalusa; her only living aunt, Stella Gillard of Sandy Hook, Miss.; a special niece, Fredericka “Nikki” Pittman of Bogalusa; her special cousins/friends, Hermine Jackson of Milwaukee, Wis., Maria Johnson of Hattiesburg, Miss., and Merlie Foster of Sandy Hook; as well as an abundance of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who all loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sheffie Dillon; her parents, Gladys Mark (Richard James) and Quince Pittman; and her older sister, Francine Roby.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 1, at 3 p.m. at the Cook-Richmond Funeral Home chapel in Bogalusa. Visitation will begin at noon and continue until the time of the service. The Rev. Stanley Nathaniel will be officiating.
