Earlier this week, detectives with the Bogalusa Police Department informed the public that the BPD is investigating the recent murder of a Bogalusa man.
In a post on the BPD’s Facebook page, the detectives stated the following:
“Detectives with the Bogalusa Police Department are currently investigating the murder of Typolia Peters that occurred on Aug. 8, 2021, in the Highland Park Housing Development in Bogalusa. During the investigation, detectives have been given many anonymous tips, and have developed suspects in the incident. However, without the cooperation of witnesses to the shooting, or corroborating evidence in the incident, it is not possible to establish probable cause to make an arrest at this time.
“Detectives with the Bogalusa Police Department want to bring justice for the family of Typolia Peters; therefore, they are asking for the cooperation from the public, and any witnesses to the shooting are asked to come forward and give a statement to the detectives. Anyone with valid information, other than being an eyewitness, is also encouraged to come forward and share your knowledge. No detail is too small, and your assistance could be what is needed to break the case and make an arrest in this matter.
“It is not the intention of the Bogalusa Police Department to intentionally expose any witness in this matter, and detectives will take the utmost care to protect the identity of those who come forward. Please take a stand to stop the senseless violence in your neighborhoods, and cooperate with this investigation. It takes a neighborhood to raise children, and our children are our future. Please help stop this violence and come forward if you have seen anything, or can offer any valid evidence in this shooting.”
