State reported 122 new COVID-19 deaths Tuesday

The Louisiana Department of Health reported more than 100 new deaths from COVID-19, in its update Tuesday at noon.

The LDH noted that the 122 new deaths bring the overall total to 11,706 deaths since the start of the pandemic in March of 2020. There were 65 deaths reported Monday.

Also Tuesday, the LDH reported 3,691 new cases of COVID, bringing the total cases reported since the start of the pandemic to 631,837. There were 13,239 cases reported Monday.

The LDH reported that there were 3,012 COVID patients in hospitals, and 441 of those were on ventilators. In Monday’s report, there were 2,956 hospitalizations and 417 on ventilators.

LDH officials also reported that non-fully-vaccinated residents made up 90 percent of the cases reported from July 29 through Aug. 4, and 83 percent of the deaths in that same time period. In addition, 91 percent of current COVID hospitalizations are patients who are not fully vaccinated, according to the LDH.

Since the start of the pandemic, Washington Parish has reported 6,296 cases and 158 deaths.
