A portion of Louisiana Highway 450 will remain closed to traffic for at least one week.
Since Monday, Aug. 2, there has been a full road closure of Highway 450 from Louisiana Highway 16 to Louisiana Highway 10, for a Department of Transportation and Development work crew to install a box culvert. That project has been delayed due to weather, and is now projected to be completed by Sunday, Aug 22.
Alternate routes are recommended, where possible. It should be noted that both lanes are closed and no traffic is allowed in the work area.
Motorists wishing to travel north on Highway 450 should detour by taking Highway 16 east to Louisiana Highway 25 north to Highway 10 west back to Highway 450. Motorists wishing to travel south on Highway 450 should detour by taking Highway 10 east to Highway 25 south to Highway 16 west back to Highway 450.
Emergency vehicles will not have access at the box culvert location, and oversized vehicles will not be permitted during this time.
The DOTD appreciates citizens’ patience and reminds motorists to drive with caution through the construction site, and to be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
