Carol Ann Gunulfsen Barber was born Jan. 15, 1946, to the late Lena Mae Breland and Goodman Gunulfsen.
Carol was raised by her Aunt Louise and Rudolph Whiermiller of Pine.
Carol was married to the love of her life for 46 years until his death in 2007. Together they raised three children, James Merrell Barber Jr., Randy Dale Barber and Melynda Louise Barber.
Carol grew up in Pine, where she enjoyed singing in church. She later learned to play the piano so that she could use her talent for the Lord. She sang in a local gospel quartet, known as the Salvation Singers.
Carol had a strong love for her family and enjoyed watching her grandson Kody and great-grandson Landry compete in dirt-track racing. She also enjoyed watching her granddaughters Khristian, Katelyn and Kadyn play softball. She loved being on the sidelines cheering and was their biggest fan.
Carol was a member of Pettitt Memorial Church, where she sang in the choir.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents and her Aunt Louise and Uncle Rudy; her husband, James Merrell Barber Sr.; her son, Randy Dale Barber; her sister, Betty Lorio; and a brother, Warren Jr. Gunulfsen.
She is survived by her daughter, Melynda Barber (Gary Evans); son, James Barber (Carolyn Russell); grandson, Kody Barber (Beth Dufrene); granddaughters, Tashonna Wallace, Khristian Capo Whaley (Joseph Whaley), Katelyn Capo Owens (Will Owens) and Kadyn Barber; great-granddaughter, Linli Mae Dufrene; great-grandsons, Landry Jaymes Barber and Kainen Paul Whaley; three sisters, Patsy Johansson, Goldia Proffer and Cathy Dennis; and a brother, Gene Gunulfsen.
Brown-McGehee Funeral Home was entrusted with funeral arrangements. Arrangements have been made for Wednesday, July 21, with visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 3 p.m. at Pettitt Memorial Church. Interment will immediately follow at Breland Cemetery in Pine.
