Mr. Ronald Mitchell, who grew up in the Rio Community but was a long-time resident of Bogalusa, passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at Ochsner Hospital in Jefferson, at the age of 74. Mr. Ronald enjoyed gardening and woodworking — making swings and rocking chairs. He also enjoyed spending time fishing with his sons and grandchildren.
Mr. Ronald is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Martha Williams Mitchell of Bogalusa; two sons, Timothy (Aundriea) Mitchell of Bogalusa, and Danny (Aimee) Mitchell of Denham Springs; and a daughter, Amy Mitchell of Bogalusa. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Sarah, Grant, AnnaLeigh and Cameron Mitchell; and his sister, Peggy Toney of Huntsville, Ala.
Mr. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, J.A. and Viola Mitchell; and brothers, Hardy, Martin, David “Jug,” Lesley and Richard Mitchell.
Visitation will be held Sunday, July 11, from 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m., with services beginning at 2 p.m. at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home with the Rev. Derek Dantin and the Rev. Ray Harrison officiating. Interment will follow at Palestine Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Dennis Allen conducting the Committal Service.
