- Bogalusa Branch Library Manager Melanie Charrier assists youngsters with the release of newly formed butterflies from caterpillar kits donated by International Paper Bogalusa Mill.
International Paper, in partnership with Celebrate Planet Earth, provided free butterfly and sunflower kits to the Bogalusa Branch Library, enabling local children to experience the wonder of nature. The library received its kits on May 25, and local children had the opportunity to witness caterpillars undergoing metamorphosis over the course of the next weeks.
“At International Paper, we seek to be a force for good in our communities, and we aim to be responsible stewards of our planet,” said Kalisa Hyman, mill communications manager. “We were proud to offer this learning experience to the young people in our community and hope it instills in them a respect for our planet.”
Since 1989, Celebrate Planet Earth has inspired young children to honor the earth and all its creatures through experiences of wonder, learning and care for the natural world. Formerly called Earth’s Birthday Project, the organization has rebranded as they broaden their outreach and expand their educational programs all year long.
