Joey Roberts, chairman of the “Our Veterans Memorial Park” Committee, is eager to announce the kickoff of Phase I of this exciting project. Phase I includes the design of the project, initial site preparation, construction of the main plaza, scheduling fund raisers, and establishing procedures to accept donations.
The creation of this project was generated from the highly successful and supportive fund balance from “The Wall That Heals” in November of 2018.
The park is going to be located at 54042 Dollar Road, at the intersection of Highway 10 and Dollar Road on land owned by LSU. It will consist of a main plaza and walkways made up of bricks purchased by friends and relatives of Washington Parish veterans and our loyal community.
The process for purchasing bricks or making donations will be formalized in the near future. We are asking the public to make Phase I possible. We have secured an architect and are beginning the process. If any individual, business, or official would like to make donations at this time, please send them to Our Veterans Memorial Park, P.O. Box 326, Franklinton, LA 70438.
The committee includes Roberts as chairman, Joannie Miller as secretary, Tammy Magruder as treasurer, and members Phillipp Bedwell, Penny Jones, State Sen. Beth Mizell, Matt Parker and Lynette Sharp.
