Scarlett Deanna Taylor, 50, a resident of Bogalusa, passed away Thursday evening, April 29, 2021, at the Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans. She received her Licensed Practical Nurse certification from Sullivan Vocational School and was always honored to serve her patients, whom she deeply cared for. Scarlett was a nurse at Rayburn Correctional Center after working for many years in the offices of Dr. Casama and Dr. Carr. She loved to play music, sing and write poetry. Scarlett played the piano, drums and other instruments and even composed several original songs and many poems through the years. She had a special place in her heart for her pet dog “Bella.” Scarlett adored her young granddaughters and enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Laken and William Stogner of the Stateline Community; granddaughters, Lily Stogner and Emily Stogner; father, Paul Goings of Lexie, Miss.; stepmother, Jeanette Sumrall of Franklinton; siblings and spouses, Tammy and Brian Brumfield of Stateline, Paula and Larry Miller of Franklinton, Tammy and Melvin Guy of Mt. Hermon, Timmy and Becky Holmes of Amite, Greg and Jeanie Holmes of Hammond, and Ben and Christina Spears of Ponchatoula; and also numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Linda Boyd Goings; an infant brother, Jimmy Todd Goings; and her grandparents.

Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home on Saturday, May 1, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., and after noon on Sunday, May 2. A funeral service was held in the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 2, with Bro. Trey Jenkins officiating. Burial followed in the Goings Family Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Scott Kirkpatrick, Jace Kirkpatrick, Blaine Kirkpatrick, Alan Goings, Trevor Brumfield, David Hodge and B.J. Goings.
