It is with great sadness that the family of LaKershia Marie Peters, affectionally known as Keshia, announce her passing at the age of 37 years old. Keshia was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Susan Willie Mae White Self and Ernest Self; her paternal grandparents, Ira Mae Peters and Clarence Peters; and her uncles, Ricky Peters, Anthony “Winky” Peters, Welton Peters, James Self and Eddie Earl Thompson.

Keshia was born on Aug. 1, 1983 in Bogalusa. She went on to graduate from Southern University with a Degree in Psychology in 2007. Keshia was always known for having a generous and kind spirit and was always seen as happy and smiling everywhere she went. Her influence will forever remain in the lives of all those who knew her. Keshia took every opportunity of taking care of people around her, including her niece, Tiana Marie Peters; nephew, Jeremy Roosevelt Knight Jr.; and special cousins, Savannah Whitaker and Xavier Whitaker.

She peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at the age of 37, at the Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans. Keshia’s beautiful life will forever be cherished by her parents, Brenda and Darrell Peters; sister, Lakeitha (Jeremy Knight Sr.) Peters; brother, Keith (Alexis) Peters; aunts, Linda Self, Beverly (Thedorick) Wolfe, Jeannette (Author Ray) Brown, Mellon (Eddie) Thompson, Debbie Peters and Ethel (Charles) McDonald; uncles, Darrel (Antonia) Self, Michael (Carolyn) Peters, Carl (Ella) Self and Anthony Ray (Martha) Hill; special friends, including Audrey Massenburg, Madonna Walker, Dossie Roberts and Bonnie Branton; and a host of close family and friends.

A drive-through viewing will be on Thursday, April 8, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa.

The funeral service will be at Second Baptist Church on Friday, April 9, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Darrel Self, pastor, and the Rev. Dr. Raymond Mims, officiating. Interment will be held at the Bogalusa Cemetery.
