Buster Bennett, 80, a resident of Mt. Hermon, died Thursday, March 25, 2021, at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. He worked in the transportation of mobile homes and as a truck driver for many years. Buster enjoyed going on trail rides. He took his horses and buggy on countless trips with groups in our area and even other states around the country. He liked to ride motorcycles earlier in life and he always enjoyed visiting with his family and friends.
He is survived by his son, Dewayne Bennett of Mt. Hermon; two daughters and a son-in-law, Debbie and Archie McClendon of Mt. Hermon, and Darlene Bennett of Franklinton; seven grandchildren, Donna Bennett, Archie “Pebo” McClendon Jr. and Jennifer McClendon, John McClendon, Myranda Stafford, Tiffany Ochsner, Aaron Bennett, and Alyssa Bennett; nine great-grandchildren, Joshua Bennett, Destini Bennett, Shawn Bennett, Archie McClendon III, Kade McClendon, Jasmine McClendon, Brooklyn Stafford, Jackson Stafford and Wesley Bennett; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Willie Bea Schilling of Mt. Hermon, Earline and Howard Sharp of Walker, and Lynell Thoele of Slidell; and also numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hulon Bennett and Mae Belle Moak Bennett; brothers, Elrie Bennett, Wayne Bennett, Allen Bennett and Ike Bennett; sisters, Menola Williams, Ola Mae Miley and Viola Jenkins; and other family members.
He will be laid to rest in the Mt. Hermon Pentecostal Church Cemetery, following a private family ceremony.
