Kathleen Gaye Kolar passed away on Friday, Feb. 26, 2021, in Bogalusa, at the age of 69.

She was born in Chula Vista, Calif., and as a Navy wife she lived in California, Hawaii, and then St. Bernard Parish since 1991, and was most recently a resident of Bogalusa since 2006. She loved Louisiana. Kathleen was an animal lover, especially her cats. She was the best mother and grandmother anyone has ever known. An avid bird watcher, she could identify many species. She was very talented and enjoyed crocheting baby items and blankets. She also enjoyed her flowers.

She was the loving wife of Eugene Kolar for over 50 years; daughter of the late Zigmont Layman, and Dorothy Randal Layman; devoted mother of Kevin James Kolar and Matthew Michael Kolar; grandmother of Tessy Kolar and Haley Munch; sister of Nancy Lawrence and Thomas “Tom” Layman; and aunt of Kenny Lawrence and Chris Lawrence, all of San Diego, Calif.

A Memorial Service will be held on a later date. Inurnment will be held at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Slidell.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to an Animal Humane Society or animal rescue organization of the giver’s choice.
