During Mt. Hermon School’s library time, the 10th-grade Medical Terminology students along with Coach Steven Kittleson led a presentation and demonstration to the fifth-grade students, explaining the function of the cardiovascular system and the importance of keeping a healthy heart.
At the conclusion of the presentation by Coach Kittelson, the 10th graders tutored the fifth graders on how to use a stethoscope to listen to their heartbeats. The students also learned the function of a pulse oximeter which measures the level of oxygen in the blood.
These activities were very beneficial to all students in bringing awareness to young people about the importance of heart health during the American Heart Awareness Month of February.
Mt. Hermon School is proud to be partnering with Dr. Jihua Xu and Anita Wood with the LSU Heart Smart Program.
