William Seldon “Bill” Lang, of Bogalusa, died Wednesday morning, Dec. 23, 2020, at his residence in Bogalusa, with his family in attendance, at the age of 85. He was born in Bogalusa on Oct. 18, 1935, and was the first child of Seldon Albert Lang and Beulah Griffith Lang.
He was a deacon and member at Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church, Past Master and member for 62 years at Pine Masonic Lodge No. 264. He retired as a millwright supervisor after serving 43 years at the Bogalusa Paper Mill. He enjoyed farming at home and loved playing golf. He was active and well known as a Mason, attending various meetings and participating in Masonic Rites.
He is survived by his children, Steven W. (Katina) Lang, Alan G. (Beth) Lang and Sandy (Jimmy) Sharp, all of Franklinton; his brother, Michael W. Lang; his sisters and a brother-in-law, Sharon (Robert) Ard of Bogalusa, and Barbara Lang Breland of Pine; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Donald and Patricia Tynes of Loranger; He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Daisy Lee Tynes Lang, on Nov. 29, 2020; his parents, Seldon and Beulah Lang; his in-laws, Roy and Athalee Tynes; and his brother-in-law, Robert Earl Breland.
Services celebrating his life will be held on Sunday, Dec. 27, at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., with a masonic service at 1:30 p.m. and the funeral service beginning at 2 p.m. in the chapel. Bro. Pete Underwood and Bro. George Moore will officiate and interment will follow at Lang-Simmons Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Steven Lang II, Cody Sharp, Jason Sharp, Josh Crain, Matt Lang and Mark Corkern.
