Elder Hubert Edwards departed this life Oct. 17, 2020, at Our Lady of the Angels Hospital in Bogalusa at the age of 94. He was born to the late Willie and Sarah Edwards on April 24, 1926.
He retired from Crown Zellerbach Paper Mill.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jessie Lee Edwards; three sons, Hubert Jr. of North Carolina, Beanie of Biloxi, Miss. and Timothy Edwards of Bogalusa; four daughters, Agnernell Jackson of New Jersey, Brealam (Jerry) Wells of Bogalusa, Carroll (Olu Sr.) Cole of New Jersey and Vanessa (Fabian) Legard of Baton Rouge; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Willie (Sarah) Edwards; his son, Jeffery Edwards; his daughter, Pattie Edwards; sister, Ira Mae Peters; brothers, Oscar Charles Edwards and Willie Edwards; and a grandson, Alfrey James Mannah.
A drive-through viewing will be held on Friday, Oct. 23, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Crain and Sons Funeral Home, located at 809 E. Third St. in Bogalusa.
His celebration of life will be held Saturday, Oct. 24, at 11 a.m. at St. John Temple Church of God in Christ, located at 1126 N. Roosevelt St. in Bogalusa, with the Rev. Eric Clayton, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Bogalusa Cemetery.
